I want to thank all of you who have taken the faith to trust me with your graphic design and for that I am grateful.  I haven’t made a killing or anything but the work has been steady and some of you are still waiting for completed projects.  All I can ask is for you to please be patient with me as this is a major “Fail forward fast” moment for me.

Most of us in the internet marketing world still have day jobs, or in my case a night job and do the online thing in our spare time only after we are motivated to find something else to supplement our “non secure” jobs that sustain us from day to day.  I know many of you are in that same boat as me and are currently doing something about it.  Just know that it does take time and please be patient.  It’s so worth it.

The relationships I’ve made with many of you are so much more than customer based.  I consider most of you my close online friends and will get a chance to thank you in person in Las Vegas at the end of this month and look forward to talking with you face to face and getting as much video as possible.  “Plus a few JV Partnerships wouldn’t hurt” LOL

Alex’s mentoring program has helped me so much to just get it going and I thank him for that.  I am sure his seminar for the two days will be hyperactive as he is and his guests will be just as entertaining and informative.  It’s going to be a blast I’m sure.

The next two days folowing  Alex’s event will include me joining an elite group of people getting first hand experience with the Butterfly Marketing script as Mike Filsaime and his colleagues train us and help us set up live, our Butterfly Marketing sites.  I could do this on my own so the money I spent on this is purely for the contact and getting myself out there, seen, and known.  Not to mention I’ve never done anything like this before in my life.  How exciting!

Ironically, in this months issue of Mike’s “The Best Damn Newsletter” this is his number one choice he gives for the reason why marketers are successful.  “Going to events” will do more to your business than any online thing you choose to do.  Direct contact still remains one of the biggest if not the biggest form of branding out there.  The most successful and most profitable JV partnerships occur from the interaction at these live events.

So I must be willing to take off my shy suit and start to communicate more and be memorable.  I must be willing to approach people and introduce myself.  Remember what Alex told us.  He kept asking questions and tried to meet as many different people as he could.  Just look at him now too.  What an example to all of us he is and I can’t wait to shake his hand and let him know what a great guy he truly is.  And I plan to do that to most of you as well.

To save time I signed up to Youtube and created my account. I included everything necessary to upload videos and even created my own channel.

Then I downloaded a free 30 day trial of Camtasia Studio 6 to make my free videos with. I made my first video and uploaded it to Youtube and watched the results.

The next thing I did was sign up to EzineArticles.com as an author. I put as much information as possible and began to write my article. I made sure that my article was not on any other websites and unique to only EzineArticles. It takes a few days after submitting articles for them to be approved.

Well if you are curious as to the results of these two traffic tactics, I suggest you scroll down and take a look at the video below to see exactly what happened. You may be surprised. This is only the second video I’ve ever made myself so please be patient with my abilities and “yes” this was made free also because my Camtasia trial has not expired yet!

It would be too hard for me to go into here and now because I would have to draw it out for you but believe me when I say it was really solid information.  The main focus last night was “Building a List” and “Email Marketing.”  We all know and have heard a million times that the money is in the list but the way Alex presented it made it concrete for me anyways.

So now it’s time for me to re plan my goals and actually get my list started.  Yeah, I have an opt in form on my blog but not a whole lot of people bother to sign up.  I have not offered much in the realm of value by the way I have displayed my offer to my readers.

I plan on changing how I gather my list information so just to make it clear if I already changed it, my website had an opt in form with a picture of some videos above it.  It said “Learn to build a list by my friend Alex Jeffreys.”  In two months I have not had one single sign up for this and mainly because all the visitors to my blog are current Alex Jeffreys students.

Alex encouraged us to start writing our own ebooks and put our stories in there.  When we include ourselves in the story, it makes it more unique and special.  People will begin to relate to you and eventually sign up for the free book.  Remember this is not a selling time, it’s a giving time.  So to start building your list you need to give away value and also give it for free to get opt ins.

Alex also went over proper email marketing and how to pull the prospect into your message.  Out of everything he does, email marketing is what he seems to be most proud of.  He has given us plenty of examples and as I start writing my own email campaigns for my autoresponder series and for broadcast messages, I will be glad to share my learning with you.  After all we are running a business and learning together right?

Instead of doing work periodically throughout the day, Alex talked about setting up about four, ninety minute block sessions to focus on your work.  Obviously this will be less for those of us still  holding down a job but the main focus is doing non interrupted work.  Completely focus on building your list, that’s the most important thing.  Selling to your list comes much later.

Alex focused on writing free ebooks to give away in order to start building his list.  Make sure the book has a lot of value so the prospect feels good about you.  Only after Alex reached 500 subscribers did he begin marketing or selling to his list.  After you begin marketing to your list it is crucial that you continue to build your list even larger.

In only 18 months Alex had gone from $0  to $250,000.  Not bad eh?  We all start small, in fact we all started with nothing.  Walt Disney started out with an idea and now his movies and theme parks pull in millions almost daily.  You must start planning in order to succeed.  If you fail to plan then you plan to fail.  Here is the order in which we have been learning from Alex.

1. Plan
2. Create Content
3. Build Automated System
4. Test System On Small Scale
5. Drive Traffic, and More
6. Provide Value
7. Promote To Your List

All of this has been focused and based around list building and we need to remember that people come one by one.  Alex has been teaching us how to grow and reminds us that it is not about the destination, it’s about the journey.

He reminded us that there are two sides to business.  Getting results and making excuses.  You can be so close to success but never see it.  He related a story of a little boy who thought he didn’t grow much until he saw his relatives at Thanksgiving.  “Wow, how big you’ve gotten!” was their reply.  So it is with creating your online business.  You may not see the fruits of your labor but let others see what you’ve accomplished and they may be surprised at how much you’ve grown. 

In the email marketing portion of the coaching Alex relayed to us that it really is relationship marketing.  Building a relationship of trust is crucial to your business plus it’s a win win for everyone.  Treat your list like customers and they will flee.  Treat them like family and you’ll have customers for life.

Don’t worry if you don’t know how to write emails, just be yourself.  You will learn as you go and Alex also reminded us that failure is a form of success.  Most failure is hidden in success.  Only people who see past failure can have success.  That is why most people quit or fail at starting a successful online business.  It’s like swimming across a lake only to swim back after going half way.  They don’t realize that the success was just as close as failing.

Alex revealed that out of all the great mentors he has been taught by that not one has given him a step by step blueprint to successful business.  The reason why is because each one of us places our own obstacles in front of ourselves and we have to be the ones who decide what our strengths are and what stands in our way.  Decide what needs to be done and do it.

There is more to email marketing or relationship marketing that can help you achieve better results.  Alex suggests that you create videos of yourself to let people see you as you are and this helps to build a relationship with them.  The videos interact with them and have a higher success rate than plain old text.  That’s why social media is so popular.  More interaction equals more subscribers which equals more sales.  One subscriber is equal to one dollar a month on average.

To create real value you have to make it a point that what you want is to find out what other people want, and give it to them.  In email marketing the number one thing Alex recommends is to tell your story.  All of you get email each and every day.  Alex also suggests to make a folder of emails that made you open them and click through to a product or service.  You can duplicate the good and toss out the bad.  Alex likes to do email promotions that build suspense.  Give it a try and journal your results.

Alex taught us more great things but this post is long enough.  I plan on creating an ebook with everything in a more clear and easy to understand format.  I remember Alex saying one time that most information marketers sell already existing information.  They just put their own story into it and package it differently.  I now know that Alex’s teachings are not specific only to him but when he ads his story into it, the content becomes his and he is able to brand himself.

So don’t be afraid to take existing valuable information and include your story.  Don’t make up some unbelievable tale just to get more subscribers or to make more sales.  Be genuine in your videos and in your ebooks and people will respond.  You’ll gain a following and as long as you provide the value and treat your list like family, you’ll be able to not only get rich once, you’ll get rich forever.  Until next time…

First of all I need to say that I have been online for over five years and have made a little money here and there but I had no direction and I had no “real” goals.

I finally figured out that most of the successful marketers online had some sort of training or knew the right people so I decided I needed a mentor and so I chose Alex Jeffreys as my mentor.

He has been mentored by the likes of Mike Filsaime, Rich Schefren, and Andrew Fox.  He also aligns himself with upcoming stars such as Maria Andros, the video marketing queen and does joint ventures with people like Jason James and Michael Cheney plus the fact I’ve seen pictures with him and a hundred other well known marketers, Ewen Chia included.

Alex Jeffreys sold motorcycles and stuff on Ebay as an affiliate and made a good living online.  He then wrote an ebook called Ebay Cash Cow and made a lot of money.  He then built upon that success by writing more ebooks and producing videos on how he made his success on previous products.

He produced Post Launch Profits and after having success with it he released Post Launch Profits Secrets.  This was proof you could make money by creating a product and by showing others how you created a product.

Alex Jeffreys made over $100,000 online his first year and after aligning himself with other well known internet marketers he made over $250,000 by launching his own coaching program to 500 students of which I am one.

I’ve been online awhile and I know that this type of coaching should have cost over $1997 so I jumped at the opportunity.  Even though Alex Jeffreys had not coached or mentored before, he was being taught by the best names in the industry.  Mike Filsaime, Rich Schefren, and Andrew Fox to name a few.

For me it was to resell but just like many of you, I never got around to selling much of anything let alone even using the products I purchased.  As I finally take a serious look at my online business and how I am running it, I have realized that I have a massive amount of wealth on my hard drive.

Alex Jeffreys said something in one of his videos that hit me square between the eyes.  He said that most of the money people make online is not from new information.  It is from information being packaged differently and adding your special touch to it.  Not his exact words but that was the conclusion I got from it.

I realize that even though his coaching is absolutely awesome, his teaching to his students is nothing short of existing information with his special touch to it.  Dont’ get me wrong.  I wouldn’t trade anything for the training I’ve received from Alex, he’s the man!

Now I’ve looked through my digital treasure on my hard drive and decided to really study the information I have on there.  Almost everything I’ve been taught by Alex is there but delivered in bits and pieces by other information marketers.  I bet you’ll find the same thing too.

What makes Alex’s mentoring program so worth while is the fact that he takes all of this existing information and puts himself in the middle and adds his spin on it.  He has branded himself and as far as I know at least 500 of us were willing to put down some hard earned cash to get his spin on things.  I am indeed grateful I did.

So stop worrying about what you’re going to write about or what that next product is going to be.  Just take a look on your hard drive and you will see.  Take an ebook about blogging and decide to give your spin on it, add some video and audio for a modern take and “Blam!”  You have original content ready to go for hungry customers. 

I’ve also learned that if I take people from the “What to do” stage to “How to do” stage, then you will have better success.  It is easy to tell people what to do but if you show them how to do it, they will continue to come to your site for answers.  Give it a try.  You may be surprised.  Until next time…
