Branding Yourself

Building a business is fun and frustrating to say the least but when the results of your hard work give people value and put money in your pocket, it’s well worth it. There are so many business models out there that in reality are so much alike that it’s not even funny. Take McDonalds and Burger King for example.
Both sell burgers and fries but what is the money maker? Other than the slight differences in their taste, they are basically both just burger and fry stores. The difference is their branding. They go all out to market themselves as “different” than everybody else. Their colors, logos, commercials, etc.. differentiate themselves from the rest.
Your online business is the same. Other than the products you create you must also be able to brand yourself so that people begin to know who you are and can start to build a relationship with you. I am willing to purchase things from people who I feel I “know” other than a complete stranger. Do you see what I mean.
Now I’m not the best looking guy in world but I’m sure you’ve noticed that my picture is on my header graphic and on one of my books that I give away. If you have seen my peel away ad in the top right corner of this website, then you have seen my face again. I am not stuck on myself but am simply trying to brand myself so people can begin to have a real relationship with me.
I want people to know me and trust me. That’s what this blog is all about. Know who I am, see what I do, it’s all out there for everyone to see. I bet Ray Kroc, the founder of McDonalds started so many chain stores, not because of his great food, but for the relationships and honesty he created with investors and other individuals. The same applies to you and your online business.
So the next time you purchase a resale rights or private label rights product, how are you going to make it unique? I suggest adding your personal branding to it so that it provides more honesty and value. Create newsletters and be personal. Share yourself with your prospects and the more they get to know you, the more likely they will eventually purchase from you.
If you don’t get your name and face out there, people won’t know who you are and the less likely they will be willing to share their hard earned money with you. Yes the value of products is important but remember you are building a business and people want to know who they are working with or paying their money to. In a virtual world it is still important to build relationships and trust. Until next time…
